" I come from an engineering background, went to sea as an engineering officer for a New Zealand shipping company, returned to shore and married and we have two daughters. We moved from Feltham to Basingstoke and on to Oulton with my job, we have lived in Oulton since 1990. I have always had a leaning to help others having been a shop steward back in the town of Basingstoke. In our area of Oulton we had a problem and we enlisted the Parish Council via our elected parish councillor who dealt with the matter in a very professional manner. I became interested in the workings of the Parish Council, was advised that there was a vacancy on the council, I applied and was co-opted on in 2009. I took on the portfolio of Education and assistant to our Planning Officer. Always trying to bring a solution to the table as I believe in fair play. So if you have a problem please come and have your say."
Councillor Peter Collecott

" I was born in Fir Lane, Lowestoft. I was in the Royal Navy for 9 years as an electrician. When I came out I became an officer when we started the local Sea Cadet Unit T.S. Europa in 1965 and later became a civilian instructor and a committee member for a number of years. I went into factory maintenance, then ship building which led onto 25 years in the oil and gas industry, onshore and offshore. I was a School Governor for around 15 years until they changed the schools system from a 3 tier to a 2 tier system. I am a freemason."

" I was born in Greenock, Scotland, and spent the first part of my childhood there. My Dad's work brought our family to Lowestoft in 1975, via 8 years living in Yorkshire, and here I have been ever since. I still think of Scotland as my first home but Oulton Broad has become home to me and I am happy to be part of this community.
I spent many years working in education administration, first at Lowestoft College and, until January 2016 at the University of East Anglia. Since leaving the UEA, I have become Clerk to Oulton Parish Council, supporting the Parish Councillors in their valuable work for the local community.
I am on the Bonds Meadow Committee, which helps to maintain the 6-acre county wildlife site in Oulton Broad, and I am a Director of Broad Roots, a not-for-profit organisation which promotes folk and roots music events in the local area. I am a keen gardener and spend many hours in my Oulton Broad garden during the season growing flowers, fruit and vegetables, and cooking my own produce."
